Blk Earth Studio, or blk earth, is a healing arts studio founded by Nana Kumi. Nana is a multidisciplinary artist working across photography, film, installation, and performance.

Inextricably linked to her artistic practice is her spiritual practice, which grounds indigenous African technologies to the core.

blk earth is rooted in the beliefs of ancient matriarchal societies and in representations of contemporary Black Madonnas.

This platform supports ecosystems of care for artists, healers, land stewards, medicine keepers, and cultural custodians across the global black diaspora.

blk earth work is framed through spirit | soil | fire| water | air|.

The studio also serves as a transition doula, supporting folx through loss, grief, and death, guided by Nana’s various lineages and trainings as a spiritual herbalist and death worker.

We believe that Artists are mediums and play an integral part in transmitting healing wisdom through the soil across the globe.
